H Tech Solutions is pleased to announce the ODS can now directly manage and secure Windows Phone 8.1. This latest update to ODS removes the need to subscribe to the OWL service to manage Windows Phone 8.1. This means that BOTH consumers and businesses who subscribe to ODS can manage Windows Phone 8.1 for no additional fees. Remember that ODS provides management of up to 5 devices for each user.
In order to configure a Windows Phone 8.1 device to be managed, users will need to download the Company Portal app from the Microsoft Store. This is a free application from Microsoft which is available to any Windows Phone 8.1 user. Once the Company Portal app is loaded on the device, the user will have to provide valid credentials. If you are not sure what your ODS login credentials are, contact H Tech Solutions and request a password reset. After authenticating to ODS with valid credentials, the Company Portal app will prompt the user to enroll the device. Clicking on the enroll prompt will direct the user to the Windows Phone 8.1 settings to complete the enrollment. This process ensures that Windows Phone 8.1 is directly managed by ODS. It is a very similar set of steps that a user would follow to manage an iOS or Android device with ODS.
Once WIndows Phone 8.1 is fullly managed by ODS, users will be able to use the Company Portal to:
- Access deep links to the Microsoft Store
- View enrolled devices
- Rename, remove, or reset enrolled devices
- View contact information for the managed service provider
