H Tech Solutions is pleased to announce that ODS now provides day 0 support for the management of Android 5.0 Lollipop which released from Google today.
The ability to support a new mobile OS on the day it releases is a great example of the benefits of using public cloud services. Running an on-premises MDM solution would require careful planning and testing to prepare for the release of a new mobile OS. Even the most agile organization generally takes weeks or months to plan for upgrades. But using the public cloud means that upgrades are no longer a concern. ODS is automatically updated when new features are available. There is no software to install or configuration settings to change. There are also no extra fees to upgrade. It just happens automatically.
Support for Android 5.0 Lollipop does not mean that you need to upgrade your device immediately. ODS still supports Android 2.3.4 and above. So you can choose to upgrade your version of Android when you are ready. If you do wish to upgrade your device to Android 5.0, follow the steps in this article:

Please note that ODS does NOT have the ability to push an upgrade of Android to your device. This can only be initiated by the end user.
